The Holy Grail of Workstations Moves Your Computer with Your Body
Ergonomic chairs, standing desks, adjustable desks, treadmill desks: If the past decade is any indication, the most comfortable and healthy way to work still alludes us. Sonoma-based startup Altwork hopes to have cracked the code, debuting a fully mobile workstation now available for preorder that moves your computer with you, instead of making you conform to it.
Designed for "heavy computer users"— the programmers, writers, designers, etc of the world—the Altwork Station is designed to seamlessly move between different seating positions at the touch of a button, to increase productivity and comfort (see it in action below, around the 2:00 minute mark).
It has four main positions: sitting, standing, "collaborating" (a more open sitting position, with the screen swiveled outward) and "focus" (the reclined position featured above). But really any position you can think of can be achieved— want to be fully reclined with your computer raised above? You do you.
